In Part 2 of my latest CEOWORLD magazine article, The Accountability Paradox and the Power of Psychological Safety, I write about what Amy Edmondson taught me (all of us) about the relationship between psychological safety and accountability.

While finetuning the fundamentals of Peernovation, I created an illustration called Inside the Five Factors, which adds productivity to the mix. I simply note that productivity (the quality and quantity of the outputs and outcomes) serves as the tangible evidence to the team that the stronger the psychological safety, the better the team performs - the more their gifts are allowed to shine, and the better they communicate and collaborate. This fuels a new belief in themselves and their capabilities, which inspires them to set even higher standards driven largely by the peers on the team (not by a leader cracking a whip from the top down), thus creating a healthy culture of accountability.

CEO Forums can teach us a great deal about building high performing teams. This is just one example.
